Let me briefly talk about the harm of dampness:

When dampness enters the skin, it can affect the metabolism of skin cells, reduce fat burning efficiency, leading to obesity. Excessive dampness staying in the body will increase the burden of transforming dampness for the spleen, just like an overloaded carriage, sometimes even affecting the kidney’s diuretic function, and in severe cases, can cause systemic edema.

So how can we eliminate dampness from the body in daily life? In fact, there are many foods in life that are the “natural enemies” of dampness. Eating a bit every day can help you get rid of dampness!

1. Coix Seed

Coix seed is effective in diuresis, reducing swelling, invigorating the spleen, removing dampness, relaxing tendons, and dispelling bi, and clearing heat and pus. However, due to the bitter-cold nature of dandelion, it should not be consumed by those with yang deficiency, qi deficiency, and weak spleen-stomach, as it can damage yang qi, further aggravating spleen deficiency. Spleen deficiency will lead to the inability to expel dampness, resulting in dampness accumulation from spleen deficiency.

In summary, people with damp-heat constitution are suitable to consume dandelion; while those with damp-cold constitution generally have yang deficiency, and those with phlegm-damp constitution generally have qi deficiency, these two types of people should not consume dandelion. Consuming it will not remove dampness, but instead worsen dampness!
