“Control your mouth, move your legs,” is almost a classic phrase that every friend who is trying to lose weight regards as a golden rule and puts into practice, and I am no exception.
Then I started to create a weight loss plan for myself: eating two meals a day, breakfast and lunch only, skipping dinner and having light fasting with fruit and vegetable juice, along with daily long-distance running and running on an empty stomach. After persisting for three months, I found that I hadn’t shed much excess fat, my body couldn’t take it anymore, experiencing joint pain, decreased immunity, and weight rebounding as soon as I ate something.
During that period, I couldn’t figure out what was wrong until a friend shared the live broadcast of the 3rd “518 China Nutrition Festival” with me, and then suddenly everything became clear to me! It turns out that my weight loss process was “unpleasant” because, firstly, my method was wrong, and secondly, an incorrect weight loss method could easily lead to “malnutrition”!
During this year’s “518 China Nutrition Festival,” Professor Yu Kang, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Nutrition Society and Chief of the Clinical Nutrition Department at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, pointed out: if weight loss individuals opt for a single food for a long time, such as various meal replacements, or go from fasting to overeating, they cannot meet the body’s balanced nutritional needs, which can easily lead to nutritional imbalances. He suggested that in the process of losing weight, in addition to proteins, it is also important to pay attention to increasing the intake of various vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B₆, vitamin C, and zinc.
After adopting Professor Yu Kang’s scientific advice and adjusting my weight loss strategy, I resumed having three regular meals, strictly followed the recommended nutritional intake, combined with exercise, successfully lost weight, and maintained it for six months without rebounding. Now, I am sharing my weight loss method, hoping that you won’t take the wrong path anymore.
When it comes to “control your mouth, move your legs,” we should adhere to the principles of reasonably controlling diet + exercise + behavior, do what we can, in order to have the motivation to persist. Lastly, I wish all weight loss enthusiasts to have their ideal weight and a healthy body and mind!
