Yangqi is the driving force of the body’s material metabolism and physiological functions, and it is the determining factor for the reproduction, growth, development, aging, and death of the body. To survive normally, one needs yangqi as support, and the stronger a person’s body is, the more abundant their yangqi. However, if yangqi is insufficient, the body’s quality will decline, leading to frequent illness. When the yangqi in the body is depleted, one will face the arrival of death.

It can be seen that sufficient yangqi is beneficial for health and longevity, so daily maintenance should focus on replenishing yangqi. Besides supplementing yangqi, it is important to avoid or minimize activities that damage yangqi to ensure that the body’s yangqi remains abundant.

Adequate sleep can rejuvenate the spirit and allow various organs of the body to rest and repair, helping to enhance the body’s yangqi. Going to bed after 11:00 pm every night can cause leakage of yangqi, leading to a decline in mental state, as well as weakening the body’s resistance and immunity, resulting in various illnesses.

Both men and women should avoid prolonged contact with cold water, especially women during menstruation, as excessive contact with cold water can cause menstrual pain. Constant exposure to cold water can introduce cold air into the body, reducing the body’s yangqi, thus lowering the body’s quality and potentially triggering various diseases.

Sedentary behavior can disrupt normal blood circulation in the body as movement is essential for life. Lack of exercise leads to a decrease in the body’s yangqi. Hindered blood circulation causes toxins and waste to accumulate in the blood vessels, which can damage the blood vessels and potentially lead to blood clots, posing significant health risks.

Although living conditions are improving, the fast-paced lifestyle brings about excessive stress from daily life and work pressure, causing individuals to be in a prolonged state of tension, leading to negative emotions. Excessive negative emotions can weaken the body’s resistance and immunity, decrease the body’s yangqi, and trigger various diseases.

Smoking and drinking are common unhealthy habits, and nowadays, they are not exclusive to men, as many women also engage in these habits. Long-term smoking and drinking increase the body’s toxins, reduce the body’s quality, damage liver and kidney functions, deplete yangqi, potentially leading to respiratory diseases, liver and kidney diseases, as well as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

To maintain sufficient yangqi in the body, it is important to avoid the aforementioned activities that deplete yangqi and supplement yangqi through exercise. Engaging in moderate exercise daily not only exercises muscles and bones but also elevates yangqi, strengthens resistance and immunity, and contributes to health and longevity.
