After turning 50, lose 20 pounds while maintaining health and beauty!
When I share my outfits, there are always friends who exclaim, “You look so slim!” “How did you lose weight?” I’ve shared some experiences about this. In a year and a half, I lost a total of 20 pounds.
To summarize, there are two key points: healthy eating and effective exercise. Relying solely on starvation to lose weight is not sustainable in the long term. One must satisfy their cravings for food while also having enough energy expenditure to maintain their figure, which can only be achieved through exercise.
I have also experienced pitfalls in weight loss. For example, at the beginning, I adopted a method of eating less and moving more. I did aerobic exercises for 40 minutes every day, but after a month, my weight remained unchanged. The correct method should be to eat less and move less, and eat more and move more, so as not to affect normal metabolism and thereby consume fat. Later, I changed my approach; here are the key points:
1. I shifted from daily exercise to 2 to 3 times a week, reduced aerobic exercise, and mainly focused on shaping, such as push-ups, mountain climbers, and other floor exercises. Compared to gym workouts, this is relatively easier, but long-term adherence can tighten the body.
2. Control portion sizes at each meal, chew slowly, and stop when 80% full. If you’re stuffed, don’t talk about losing weight.
3. The food I eat includes high-quality proteins (meat, eggs, dairy, fish, shrimp), high-quality fats (olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, etc.), vegetables, and carbohydrate-rich staples. I eat all of these, just control the portions. Weight loss needs to fit into daily life; too monotonous or strict food can lead to binge eating. I currently weigh 100 pounds and have never refused hot pot, spicy skewers, or barbecues. Of course, I don’t eat them frequently, at least once a week. I also don’t refuse delicious foods when dining out.
4. No snacks between meals, and drink more water to help with metabolism; I drink about 2000ml daily.
5. Before sleeping, try to feel a bit hungry. If nothing is uncomfortable and it doesn’t affect your sleep, try to refrain from eating.
6. There is no such thing as losing fat in specific areas; whether gaining or losing weight affects the whole body. Only when the entire body loses weight can the belly decrease. After I lost weight, my rings became loose, and the shoe sizes also went down a bit.
Weight loss is a long-term behavior and requires sustaining it for a while!
