Must read

Unknowingly, we have endured two periods of the hottest days of summer, and we are about to enter the final period. The last phase occurs after the arrival of autumn, and from a temperature perspective, it is still very hot, so we must not neglect heat prevention and cooling.

The older generation always says to eat according to the season. How should we eat during the last phase? It is recommended that everyone eat less cold and cooling foods, and instead, enjoy five types of food to easily transition into autumn.

Why should we eat less of the cold foods?

As we all know, cold ingredients, especially ice cream and iced drinks, can offer immediate relief when consumed. However, for those with poor gastrointestinal health, eating cold foods can easily lead to abdominal pain and diarrhea, so it is advisable to limit their intake.

Enjoy these five types of food:

(1) Oilseed Mustard

Oilseed mustard is crunchy and tender with a slight bitterness. Autumn is dry, and oilseed mustard is drought-resistant, making it taste better than Shanghai greens, for instance.

â‘  Take 150 grams of oilseed mustard, break it apart and soak it in water for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, drain the water, and cut into small segments.

â‘¡ Clean 100 grams of shiitake mushrooms and slice them.

â‘¢ Boil water in a pot, and once boiling, add the shiitake mushrooms for blanching. After 30 seconds, add the oilseed mustard for blanching for another 20 seconds, then remove them. Rinse all ingredients in cold water and squeeze out excess water.

④ Take 80 grams of pork hind leg meat, wash it clean, and chop it into minced meat. Pour lard into the pot, add the pork and stir-fry. Once the pork changes color, add light soy sauce and garlic to sauté, then add the shiitake mushrooms and oilseed mustard to stir-fry together.

⑤ Add salt for seasoning, then add water starch to thicken the sauce. Stir evenly, and it can be served on the table.

(2) Wax Gourd

After the last phase, the large wax gourds are truly ripe, full of moisture and great texture. On dry and humid days, eating some wax gourd can also help replenish moisture.

â‘  Take 200 grams of wax gourd, peel and seed it, wash it clean, and cut it into slices.

â‘¡ Heat up the pot, add the prepared roast duck. Pour in more roast duck broth, then add the wax gourd and stir-fry quickly for a while.

â‘¢ Add an appropriate amount of boiling water, cover, and simmer on low heat. When the wax gourd becomes soft, add some light soy sauce, garlic, chili, and a little salt, then continue to simmer for a while. Sprinkle some chopped green onions, and use high heat to reduce the sauce before serving.

(3) Yam

As we enter the last phase, the air becomes dry, and due to the prolonged high temperatures, we often feel dehydrated from using air conditioning. Yam is hydrating and contains rich mucilage protein, so eating it occasionally is beneficial for the body.

â‘  Take one yam, hold one end with chopsticks. Peel off the skin, wash it clean, then cut it into small segments.
