Introduction: Cold in the third nine days, hot in the three fu days, this period is the hottest time of the year, and meteorologists predict that this year may be the hottest three fu days in history. When it comes to diet during the three fu days, many people think of eating bitter gourd and drinking green bean soup. However, the elderly often say “eat cool, not cold,” which means you can eat some cooling things to relieve heat, but do not eat too many cold-natured things to avoid the invasion of cold air and underlying health issues.
While foods like bitter gourd and green beans are typical summer foods, they are not suitable for excessive consumption, especially for those who already have a cold body constitution, they should eat less of these foods. Otherwise, it will not only fail to clear heat and detoxify but also have adverse effects. Today, I recommend 3 foods that can relieve heat without bringing coldness to the body:
1. Ginger
Recommended recipe – Ginger boiled eggs
Ingredients:
4 eggs, ginger, salt
Method:
1. Wash the eggs, put them in a pot with water to cook, soak them in cold water for 3-5 minutes, then peel off the eggshells;
2. Wash and slice the ginger, add water to the pot, put in the ginger slices, bring to a boil over high heat, then add the peeled eggs, simmer over low heat for 10 minutes;
3. Add salt to taste, simmer for another 2 minutes, then turn off the heat, let it cool before serving for better taste.
2. Lotus root
Recommended recipe – Steamed lotus root with meat
Ingredients:
Pork, lotus root, spring onions, ginger, garlic, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, cooking wine, salt, white pepper powder, cornstarch, coriander
Method:
1. Chop the pork into minced meat, then wash the lotus root and slice it, chop the spring onions, ginger, and garlic.
2. Put the minced meat in a large bowl, add the chopped spring onions, ginger, garlic, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, cooking wine, salt, white pepper powder, cornstarch, mix well, marinate for 15 minutes.
3. Evenly spread the marinated minced meat on the lotus root slices, stack the lotus root slices together, secure with toothpicks.
4. Place the stacked lotus root in a steamer, cover with a lid, steam over high heat for 30 minutes, sprinkle with chopped coriander, steam for another 2 minutes, remove the toothpicks and serve.
3. Hawthorn
Recommended recipe – Hawthorn apple water
Ingredients:
Hawthorn, apple, rock sugar, red dates
Method:
1. Wash the hawthorn, remove the cores, slice and set aside; peel and core the apple, cut into pieces; wash and pit the red dates.
2. In a pot, add an adequate amount of water, add hawthorn slices, apple pieces, and red dates, bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes until the hawthorn and apple are soft.
3. Add rock sugar, stir until completely dissolved, then serve. Let it cool for optimal taste.
