These days, the southern region is still very hot, and many people are questioning: Has autumn really arrived?
In fact, the wind is different from before, no longer bringing a cool breeze, but rather a sense of goosebumps.
In autumn, many people may experience colds, coughs, runny noses, and they may persist for a month without improvement.
So how can we determine if we have excessive dampness in our bodies?
1. Stool sticks to the toilet bowl and is difficult to flush.
2. Yellow coating on the tongue
3. Frequent diarrhea
If you confirm that you have excessive dampness in your body, learn to “soak feet, drink porridge” and after a week, expel dampness and warm the spleen and stomach.
Soaking feet
1. White vinegar
White vinegar itself has a sterilizing and disinfecting effect. Adding a small amount of white vinegar while soaking your feet can help eliminate foot odor. Of course, do not add too much white vinegar, one or two drops is sufficient, as excessive vinegar can irritate the skin on your feet and cause allergies.
2. Ginger
Many people use ginger foot baths. In addition to removing odors, ginger also warms the body and promotes blood circulation. If you are in the midst of a cold, consuming ginger can effectively alleviate discomfort and prevent dizziness and headaches. Moreover, ginger has a strong damp-expelling effect, consuming it regularly can help eliminate body dampness.
Drinking porridge
As the saying goes, “It’s easy to get rid of a thousand chills, but it’s hard to get rid of dampness.” Porridge is an easily digestible food, so drinking more porridge is beneficial for one’s health.
Coix seed and red bean porridge
Coix seeds are good damp-expelling foods, and when cooked with red beans, the effects are even more significant. This porridge never becomes sticky; the ingredients at the bottom are always cooked, leaving a light red soup on top, where most of the nutrients of the coix seeds and red beans are present. When simmering the porridge, add more water, and it can also be consumed as a tea. In hot weather, it is best to finish drinking it in the morning to prevent spoilage.
When simmering the porridge, use more water, and that soup is enough for half a day, which can be used as a tea. In summer, it is advisable to finish it in the morning as it may spoil by the afternoon.
Bitter melon and coix seed porridge
After washing the coix seeds, soak them for a few hours, cut the bitter melon into pieces, and then cook both ingredients together for forty-five minutes. Bitter melon clears heat and detoxifies, while coix seeds have a damp-expelling effect, making them a perfect combination.
Additionally, we can tap “one acupoint” by tapping one point on the body each time, once a week, to expel dampness and slim the abdomen.
Armpit
The armpit area has important acupoints; frequent rubbing helps dispel inner heat. If you often feel drowsy or irritable, rubbing the armpits can help open the heart meridian, leading to a sense of calmness and the expulsion of dampness. If there is an odor from the armpits, it is essential to clean them promptly to prevent dampness from lingering.
